Selecting An Advisor

Stop, look and listen is the advice given to school children when learning how to cross the road safely.

First and foremost, STOP, take a minute to think about what you want from an advisor.  Is it to calculate how much mortgage you can afford, how to save on taxes, where to invest your money, or how to retire?

Then LOOK search for the businesses that you think will be able to take care of you.  Search the internet, ask for referrals and look for professionals that are licensed and certified appropriately.  Professional organizations like the American Institute of CPA’s, the Financial Planning Association, and the Certified Financial Planner Board are all good resources.

Schedule an introductory appointment, talk about your general needs and LISTEN to their responses.  Talk about the project, your needs and the costs.  You want them to be fully transparent and it is best if they have a Fiduciary mindset.

Investments

Today or tomorrow is the ultimate question. If one can postpone the consumption of their resources, apply some risk and smartly allocate the funds towards growing companies there is a good probability that they will have more money available in the future. At Paller Financial we use an upside down and inside out approach. Working from a cash flow and tax perspective, understanding your goals and risk tolerance and time horizon to develop a cost effective portfolio.

End of Life Planning

All of us know that one of the certainties in life is that we will pass.  No one knows how or when, but the fact of the matter is that we do not live in perpetuity.  As such, it is important for us to have our wishes memorialized and finances organized.  Beneficiary designations should be updated and reviewed regularly.  And, as our lives evolve our wills and other legal documents need to be updated. We need to inform and educate the people we hope to help us. Our end of life counseling and document review is designed to help make sure your affairs are in order and depending on your situation we may refer you to legal counsel with questions to ask and possibly have additional documents prepared.

Real Estate

Homes, rentals, business and vacation use, at Paller Financial we understand how it all fits into our family and financial plans. Sometimes it provides cash flow and other times it uses it. How is it taxed, how much mortgage should we have, and what happens when we sell it are discussions that should be had before purchases of any real estate. And of course we also talk about how it is titled and when is the appropriate time to use the equity.

At Paller financial we recognize that for most real estate is a big portion of most families net worth.  We embrace that fact and incorporate it in our overall planning.

Taxes

Taxes are real. Our goal is to help you stay in compliance and help you minimize your payments as much as we can. We prepare income tax returns for those we provide financial counsel and suggest every legal and financial tool we know of to reduce or postpone them for as long as possible.
